Delivery of MARIA licenses and development based on general and specific military requirements to a GIS
1995 ->

Why this was a success

In 1995, the Royal Norwegian Navy decided to use MARIA as the map application onboard all their vessels. Some years later the Norwegian Defence signed a site license agreement with Teleplan Globe turning MARIA into a standard for most of their operational systems. One of the systems that has sucessfully integrated MARIA is the Joint Norwegian Command and Control Information System - NORCCIS II. In addition to delivering licenses, Teleplan Globe has performed a significant amount of software development for the Norwegian Defence based on general and specific military requirements to a GIS. Some of these requirements have focused on providing interfaces to different data sources as well as interfaces modules to allied and coalition systems. This effort was an important contribution when NORCCIS II a couple of years ago was acclaimed as the most interoperable command and control system during the NATO Joint Warrior Interoperability Demonstration (JWID).

Teleplan Globe is continiously working with the Norwegian Defence to make their systems even better. One of the key success factors in this co-operation has been the ability to transfer operational requirements into GIS functionality enabling military personnel to make faster and more accurate decisions.

Defence

Project

License delivery and development to support requirements to an Air Command and Control Information System
1999 ->

Why this was a success

The Danish Air Force Material Command entered into a contract with Teleplan Globe in 1999 to provide MARIA and corresponding system integration work for NEC CCIS. NEC CCIS is a Command and Control Information System used for air and joint operations in Denmark and Norway The system is installed at more than 20 interconnected national and NATO sites, and is in use at more than 1000 workstations. The integration work has been a joint effort carried out by the Danish Air Force Material Command, the Norwegian Air Force Material Command, the NATO System Support Center, Teleplan Globe and Systematic in Denmark. The main tasks of Teleplan Globe were to tailor and enhance MARIA to meet specific requirements of NEC CCIS, assist Systematic in the process of integrating MARIA with the existing database, provide training, support and perform system maintenance.

The customer and the end users has been very satisifed with MARIA and the system engineering effort performed by Teleplan Globe for NEC CCIS. One of the key success factors has been to rapidly adapt to dynamic requirements ending up with a system in full accordance with operational needs and expectations. Another factor was the open interfaces in MARIA that made it possible to perform an extensive system integration task efficiently and as a shared task between several contributors.

Norwegian Police, Norway

Public

Project

Delivery of MARIA licenses and bespoke development
2002 -->

Why this was a success

In 2002, the Norwegian Police compared several products to find the most suitable GIS platform for the Police operation centers. After a formal evaluation where  several GIS providers presented their solutions, the Police selected MARIA as this platform and signed a contract with Teleplan Globe. The contract included the delivery of several hundred licenses, but also spesific developement to interface MARIA with existing systems. the emergency call system, the personal alarm system as well as development of a fleet management system. The first prototype was delivered 3 months after contract award while the complete system was installed at all operation centers accross the country 12 months after contract award.

The delivery and development of GEOPOL was a challenging effort of transferring a high number of operational requirements into a user friendly and reliable system within a short time frame. The capability of the MARIA software development kit to quickly establish both prototypes and complete solutions was a key success factor for solving these challenges. GEOPOL has been operational since 2003 and is used by Police Officers 24 hours a day - 7 days week.

Project

Delivery of MARIA licenses and system development to meet specific requirements of a Vessel Traffic Managmenet System
2005 ->

Why this was a success

Kongsberg Norcontrol IT is the world's leading Vessel Traffic Management and Information Systems (VTMIS), and AIS network solutions provider, with over 170 VTS systems and AIS networks worldwide. Norcontrol VTS systems and AIS networks have been installed in the world's largest and busiest ports, waterways, offshore oil and gas fields, and coastal areas.

In 2005, Kongsberg Norcontrol IT signed a Value Added Reseller (VAR) agreement with Teleplan Globe in order to make MARIA the GIS platform for their next generation VTMIS. The agrement includes delivery of MARIA licenses, but also system engineering efforts to tailor MARIA and the corresponding software development kit to the requirements of the civilian maritime environment.

One of the main reason why Kongsberg Norcontrol IT selected MARIA, was the existing capability of MARIA as a maritime GIS platform. The MARIA user interface was also an important factor providing end users with a very modern and flexible front end for their system. The third factor was Teleplan Globe's ability to quickly respond to request for new/enhanced functionality and to deliver upgraded solution on time.
