The MARIA™ Dismounted Soldier System (DSS - handheld)
MARIA™ DSS is a dismounted soldier system designed for the handheld PDA platform. This type of platform offers low weight and long operational time compared to PC-based systems. A carefully selected sub-set of C2-functionality, the PocketMARIA™ GIS, and the use of any IP-capable communication bearer provides utmost flexibility.

Background
Teleplan's Geographical Information System (GIS) MARIA™ has been acclaimed by military and civilian users for almost a decade. The focus on performance and the ability to meet a wide range of functional requirements have resulted in a very popular product with a user community constantly expanding. PocketMARIA™ is a version of MARIA™ for a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA).
MARIA™ DSS uses MARIA™ and PocketMARIA™ as GIS. MARIA™ DSS provides distribution of orders, reports, and a common operational picture between a base (e.g. Command Post, Fire Brigade, or Police Station) and one or more remote units (e.g. Dismounted Soldiers, Fire Trucks, or Police Cars) using a variety of communication systems.
