03

The Norwegian software development and system integration company Teleplan Globe AS has been awarded the contract for the supply of a new intelligence requirement and collection management system for NATO’s forces in Afghanistan (ISAF).

ISAF has an operational requirement for computer based tools supporting the entire intelligence cycle, including planning, collection, analysis and distribution. ISAF force commanders have access to a wide range of intelligence sources, ranging from aerial and satellite imagery, to ground forces observers, airborne and ground based electronic sensors, radars etc.  The efficient utilization of these assets can give major contributions to force security.

The system to be supplied by Teleplan is one of several components in NATO’s new strategy for ”Joint Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance”.

“We have developed similar tools and systems for Norwegian national forces. We have invested heavily in building a strong company competence within the intelligence domain, including a continuous participation in the NATO MAJIIC program from the very beginning.  This is in my view the reasons why we could give NATO the most competitive bid for this project”, says John Vestengen, director of ISR in Teleplan Globe.

The contract value is 16,5 mill NOK (approx 2 mill €), and the system will be fielded during the first half of 2011. The NATO acquisition is handled by NATO C3 Agency in The Hague, Netherlands and Brussels, Belgium.

Teleplan Globe is based in Lysaker/Oslo Norway and part of the privately owned Teleplan group of companies, established in 1959. Teleplan Globe develops software and system solutions for the defence and telecom sectors, with customers in Norway and the international market.
